Travelling with Minors
In order to protect minors the Belize Immigration department enforces the following requirements when travelling with minors.
- Minors ages 16 and up do not require any additional authorization documents other than their passports and visa (if relevant).
- Minors under the age of 16 are required to have authorized travel documents authorizing the accompanying adult to be travelling with the minor in the following cases:
- Minors accompanied by only one parent need an authorized document signed by the other parent.
- Minors traveling with one parent in the case that the other parent is deceased, a death certificate for the deceased parent must be provided to the immigration officer.
- Minors traveling with relatives, friends, organizations or school officials other than their parents need an authorized document signed by both parents.
- Adopted minors travelling with both parents must have with them the custody papers of those minors.
- Adopted minors travelling with one parent must have with them the custody papers along with an authorized document signed by the other parent.
