Belize Botanical Gardens
The 45-acre Belize Botanical Gardens is the life’s work of Ken duPlooy, an ornithologist, who died in 2001. His wife Judy and their family carry on the work to this day and are known as some of the nicest people you’ll meet here. Resting on the banks of the Macal River, the gardens are a collection of hundreds of trees, plants and flowers native to Central America. Highlights include the orchid exhibit, featuring more than 100 different species.
