Simone Biles and Belize: Symbolic Keys, double backflips and lots of puns.

  Last Thanksgiving, the G.O.A.T, a.k.a Simone Biles, spent her vacation in Belize, much to everyone’s excitement. As you may or may not know, Biles bears heritage ties with our small, wonderful country and possesses citizenship. Her mother is Belizean, and we for sure don’t ever let her forget it! Biles visited Belize back in 2016, but since then she’s broken history and won even more multiple awards.

            Taking advantage of this opportunity, the town of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, presented the world-renowned gymnast with symbolic keys to their municipality when she arrived. Biles humbly accepted the token, calling Belize her second home. She spent the next week enjoying San Pedro to the fullest, going on snorkeling tours and sailing. Her and her family took a day trip to the nearby island of Caye Caulker which ended up producing the viral video of the gold-medalist doing a double backflip off the diving board at the Split into the Caribbean Sea!

            Most of the international media attention focused on her and her boyfriend’s relationship, documented on her Insta, captioned with witty puns involving the one and only Unbelizeable country. We hope the Greatest-Of-All-Time visits again soon!
