Coming to Belize? Here are the three major entry requirements
It has now been over a year since Belize cautiously opened its international airport to welcome back travelers, and we have seen the merry faces of our visitors making the most of their Belize vacation. Since the initial reopening, Belize’s entry requirements have relaxed, while still maintaining the priority of safety and health for both travelers and residents. If you’re itching to pack your bags and book it to this tropical Jewel, here is what you need to do.
- Take a COVID-19 Test. All travelers, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, entering through the Philip Goldson International Airport must bring along a negative COVID-19 Test — a PCR test taken within 96 hours of arrival or an approved Antigen Rapid Test taken with 48 hours of arrival to Belize. If you are unable to bring along a test, you will need to take a Covid test upon arrival at the airport at the cost of USD$50. Children under 5 years will not be required to present a negative test. Note: Even if you present a negative test, you may still be randomly selected for secondary testing based on your health screening. If negative, you may proceed to enjoy your vacation. If positive, a minimum 10-day quarantine is mandatory.
- Book a Gold Standard Hotel. All tourists must stay at Gold Standard certified accommodations (list here) to ensure the utmost safety for all travelers and locals. Visitors are also encouraged to only utilize Gold Standard providers including gift shops, tour operators, restaurants, and attractions.
- Purchase the Belize Travel Health Insurance. Effective February 15th 2022, all foreign tourist entering Belize will be required to purchase travel health insurance from a local insurance company. The insurance can be purchased online and upon arrival at the Philip Goldson International Airport, and at the Northern and Western Border entries. The insurance policy covers is available a low cost of USD $18.00 for a period of 21 days. Note: The requirement for purchase does not apply to QRPs, Belizeans & permanent residents, diplomats, long-stay non-nationals, military personnel, Peace Corps, airline crew and persons in Belize for less than 24 hours.
